IMPORTANT TO EXHIBITORS:

1. Ages of all horses and foals will be reckoned from January 1st of the current year.

2. Only Original Certificates of Registration will be accepted for horses entered in classes that are designated “registered”. Prize money won in these classes will not be paid until all Certificates of Registration are presented to the Carp Fair Office.

3. Any driven entry must have another capable driver only with them. Under no circumstances are there to be other persons inside the ring while judging is taking place, except officials, judges and handlers.

4. Under no circumstances – No riders in wagons other than the two capable drivers.

5. All cart classes must have a capable handler inside ring.

6. Stall fees are $ 8.00 per day or $ 16.00 for the weekend in the barn. Line Horses will be allowed in the barn only if space is available on Saturday and Sunday. Only those stall reservations made through the Carp Fair Office and submitted with the entry forms, will be honoured on a first come basis.

7. Ring numbers will be available from the Directors in the center ring announcers booth in the Heavy Horse Ring.

8. Exhibitors are required to forward proof of liability insurance for the current year for all animals being shown at fairs with the entry forms. Entries will not be processed until this information is received, and are subject to late entry fees.

9. Separate entry forms are to be used for each exhibitor please.

10. Manual Entries close on Friday, September 13th, 2024. Entries will not be taken over the phone. Any entries made after Sept. 13th – Passes will not be mailed out. Exhibitors are required to pick up at the fair office.

11. Entry fees are 15% of the prize money awarded. The penalty for late entry, made after September 13th, 2024, until the day of the show, is an additional 5% of the prize money awarded.

12. Due to time restriction – show proceeds rain or shine.

13. It will be decided at show time if the show will proceed. Carp Agricultural Society will have the final say on the show.

14. PROFESSIONAL SHOWMANSHIP IS REQUIRED AT ALL TIMES.

15. All DUSTING must be done outside of buildings.

16. Carp Fair strongly encourages the influenza vaccine for horses.

17. No cross tying in the barns.

18. Carp Fair reserves the right to request a veterinary health check of any animal on our grounds.

19. All sections and classes are subject to change leading up to the show. Please www.carpfair.ca for the most up to date schedule.

DEFINITIONS:

1. For the purpose of the classifications, an exhibit shall be interpreted as follows: All purebred registered purebred animals, whether owned by one person or by more than one person (individually or jointly), are considered to be the production of the farm or breeding unit on which they are maintained.

2. For the purpose of the Classifications, a breeding unit is defined as follows: In each classification where the same or common interests are involved in more than one breeding operation, such operations are considered as one breeding unit. In all cases where there is any doubt that more than one breeding unit exists, the interpretation shall be that only one breeding unit exists. The responsibility of proof of separation of breeding units shall rest with the exhibitor(s).

3. A breeding unit may show two animals in any three classes and only one animal in the balance of the breeding classes up to 10 animals per breeding unit.

4. All exhibits must be owned and registered in the name of the exhibitor. Note exception of the Get-of-Sire class.

5. No animal may be shown in more than one class except for the Get-of-Sire, Progeny of Dam or Stallion and Three Mares classes.

6. There shall be not more than one entry per exhibitor in the Get-of-Sire, Progeny of Dam or Stallion and Three Mares classes.

7. No children under the age of 10 on wagons or carts, with exception of junior classes.

8. Stalls for Heavy Horse Hitches take precedence over Line Class Horses

Stalls for Weekend Exhibitors – Line Class exhibitors are to have their stalls vacated no later than 6:00pm EST Friday evening.

One of the many ways the Clydesdale Horse Association of Canada promotes the breed is through the continued support of breed shows and classes, including the Canadian Bred Mare Class.

Quality dams are the foundation of the national herd, and the class is held at seven shows across Canada to promote, and recognize the country’s best mares.

Rules: Bred, Born, Registered in Canada and owned solely by Canadian(s), no entry fee for the class, Mare must also participate in her age appropriate class, to enter the Canadian Bred Mare Class. The Mare may win at more than one show, but may only win once at any particular show.

Exhibitors may show in as many shows as they wish but only the best 6 scores will count towards the year end points awards. IMPORTANT TO EXHIBITORS:

Ages of the riders will be determined as of January 1st of the current year.
Under no circumstances will classes be delayed for exhibitors who are delayed by cross entries.
All exhibitors are to be dressed in clean suitable attire. Hard hats to be worn in Hunter classes and Juniors must have chin strap done up at all times.
Any person who interferes with or attempts to influence a Judge or Official while in the discharge of his or her duties, or who shall at any time, on the premises, use any contemptuous or abusive language to any Judge or Official within his or her hearing in consequence of any award made by him or her, or any exhibitor refusing to accept any award made by a Judge, shall forfeit his or her right to any premiums to which they might otherwise be entitled and may be prohibited from exhibiting for up to 5 years thereafter. Judges are particularly requested to report any offender in this direction.
Exhibitors must show proof of a negative Coggins test for the current year for all horses and ponies being shown.
Ring numbers can be picked up at ringside before the show begins.
Exhibitors must show proof of liability insurance for the current year for all animals being shown. This is to accompany the entry forms and the entry forms will not be processed until this is received. Exhibitors will be asked to show proof of insurance, OEF card or copy of policy, when picking up numbers. “NO PROOF AT RINGSIDE, NO SHOW”. Exhibitors will also be required to sign a waiver at this time. Exhibitors should be aware that their OEF membership insurance only insures the member. If someone other than the member rides or drives their horse in a class, the OEF insurance is not valid. If that occurs, other proof of insurance must be provided with the entry papers.
Each exhibitor must use a separate entry form. Extra copies may be obtained from the office.
Joint ownership is permitted in pair classes.
The show committee reserves the right to withdraw any single class with less than three entries or any team class with less than two entries entered as of noon on the Thursday preceding the fair.
All entries close on Saturday, September 21st, 2024 at 4pm, unless otherwise stated. However if extenuating circumstances apply, entries after that date but before show day may be accepted at the discretion of the director in charge but a $50.00 administration fee plus late entry fees will apply. Please note the rule for anyone arriving on show day not entered as listed under each division.
All exhibitors must be members of the Society in order to exhibit.
PARKING ON FAIR GROUNDS LIMITED TO TRAILERS AND TOWING VEHICLES. ALL OTHER VEHICLES MUST PARK IN THE PUBLIC PARKING AREAS. ALL EQUIPMENT MUST BE WITH THE ANIMALS AS THIS WILL BE THE ONLY VEHICLE ALLOWED ON THE GROUNDS. PLEASE ENTER AT ENTRANCE 16 LOCATED OFF LANGSTAFF DRIVE.
It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to familiarize themselves with both the Rules and Regulations of the Fair and the Rules for the Light Horse Division.
Return of entry fees will only be considered by the Fair at the next Board meeting, if the show is cancelled or if the exhibitor presents a veterinarian or medical certificate.
Show management reserves the right to change order of go in the interest of the show before or during the show.

RULES FOR THE MINIATURE HORSE SHOW

A miniature horse cannot be over 38 inches in height. If as a result of a complaint an animal is found to be over 38” in height, it is not a Miniature horse and will be excused from the Miniature Show. All prizes up to that point will be forfeited. Measurement will be taken from the base of the last hair on the mane to the measuring surface by a person acceptable to the show officials. The Directors reserve the right to “split” any class, which is considered too large, for reasons of safety and/or fair judging.

JUDGING INFORMATION

All “Cart” classes (except junior and under) and the Pair/Team classes are pleasure driving classes and are judged on the suitability of the horse to provide a pleasant drive. Two trots (working and strong) and a rein-back will be expected. Exaggerated high action in front to be faulted. Tandem, Team, and Unicorn, walk, trot, rein-back, and stand quiet in line to be judged. No fanning or figure of eight will be required.

Exhibitors who do not follow direction from Announcer and/or Ring Official will be faulted.

JUNIOR CLASSES

Juniors 12 and under will be judged primarily on the ability of the exhibitor with some consideration given to the performance of the horse. Exhibitors MUST wear approved head protection and be accompanied by an adult. A waiver may be signed allowing the exhibitor to enter the ring without the protective headgear or being accompanied by a capable adult.

Juniors 13 to 18 years are encouraged to wear protective headgear and an adult may accompany the driver in this class. A waiver may be signed allowing the exhibitor to enter the ring without the protective headgear or being accompanied by a capable adult.

All animals must have an approved CFIA radio frequency identification tag. The Carp Agricultural Society will charge a $25 fee for any animal that comes to the Fair without a CFIA tag.

ATTENTION

Each breed will be shown separately if they have at least:

Three exhibitors per breed
Twenty-four (24) animals per breed exhibited at class “A” fairs, of which Carp is one. If these qualifications are not met by the individual breeds, they will show in the “Any Other Breed” section.
All purebred registered animals, whether owned by one person or by more than one person (individually or jointly) are considered to be the production of the farm or breeding unit on which they are maintained.
Each breeding unit is allowed a maximum of 10 exhibits excluding the Breeder’s Herd and Get-of- Sire classes. All exhibits must be owned by and registered in the name of the exhibitor. Note the exception of the Get-of-Sire and Breeder’s Herd classes.
All animals being shown in single classes must be registered at the time of entries closing, except calves, which must be properly tattooed, in two year and mature cow/calf classes. All animals must be legibly tattooed.
Classes will be split at discretion of Director in Charge/ Comiittee by age based on attendance
Market Heifers cannot be shown in purebred classes.
Class splits to be determined by director based on attendance.

DEFINITIONS

All purebred registered animals, whether owned by one person or by more than one person (individually or jointly) are considered to be the production of the farm or breeding unit on which they are maintained.
In each classification where the same or common interest are involved in more than one breeding operation, such operations are considered as one breeding unit. In all cases where there is any doubt that more than one breeding unit exists, the interpretation should be that only one breeding unit exists. The responsibility of proof of separation of breeding units shall rest with the exhibitor(s).

CAS reserves the right to split or combine classes based on the number of entries at the time of the show.

The following supports good animal husbandry practices at shows, while presenting a positive image to spectators. All exhibitors and their fitters, agents, or other representatives agree to abide by the following rules and regulations.

The following practices or procedures are unacceptable in the show ring or registered dairy cattle:

Misrepresenting the age or ownership of an animal
Filling an animal’s rumen unnaturally with liquid (tubing)
Administering epidural anaesthesia (blocking tails) and/or applying any irritant either externally or internally to the perineal (rectum and vagina) area
Inserting foreign material/articles under the skin, into the topline (including hair not attached to its own hair follicle) or on the feet (administration of acceptable medications, and false switches and tails is permitted)
Performing surgery of any kind to change the natural contour of appearance of the animal’s body, hide or hair. Not included is the removal of warts, teats and horns, clipping and dressing of hair and trimming of hooves
Criticizing or interfering with the judge, show management or other exhibitors, or other conduct detrimental to the breed or show
Wrapping hocks or draining fluid from hocks unless authorized by a veterinarian at the show

All exhibitors and their fitters, agents or other representatives agree to abide by the Standard Procedures and Rules and Regulations for Showing Dairy Cattle and/or other show rules and regulations.

ATTENTION

To be eligible for prize money, each breed must be shown separately and have at least:

All exhibits must be owned by and registered in the name of the exhibitor. All animals must have an approved CCIA radio frequency identification tag. The Carp Agricultural Society will charge a $25 fee for any animal that comes to the Fair without a CCIA tag. All exhibitors will be required to present registration certificates on demand by an official of the Show. Failure to comply with this request will disqualify entries or animals from being exhibited.
All exhibits must be registered in the name of the exhibitor in accordance with the by-laws of the Association. The certificate of registration must state if the animal is purebred or at least 75% of purebred inheritance, registered and recorded on the records of the Association in the name of the exhibitor. No animals will be accepted without a registration certificate or facsimile copy of both sides of up-to-date registration certificate from the breed offices. There will be no exceptions and no animal will be allowed to show on a signed transfer or Photostat certificate of registry. Each animal will be checked for show eligibility against its registration certificate prior to showing.
The calculation of Premier Exhibitor and Premier Breeder points per exhibitor and per breeder will be assessed on a maximum of ten (10) animals shown and earning points in the individual classes.

All exhibitors must have livestock in the barn by 9:00am the morning of the show. Exhibitors can leave the buildings after 4:30 pm

IMPORTANT TO EXHIBITORS:

Proof of liability insurance must accompany each entry form for the animals being shown. Entries will not be processed until this information is received and are submitted to late entry fees.
Manual Entries close on Friday September 13th, 2024. ONLINE Entries will close Sunday, September 22nd, 2024. Entries will not be taken over the phone.
Fair Share – CAS retains 15% of the prize money.
Any entries made after Friday, September 13th- passes will not be mailed out, exhibitors required to pick up at fair office.
There are open pens, and all animals must be in the pens when judging begins.
No animals can arrive on site prior to Sunday morning at 7:00 a.m.
*ALL ANIMALS MUST BE EAR TAGGED BEFORE ARRIVING TO FAIR, NO EXCEPTIONS. *
The Carp Agricultural Society will charge a $25 fee for any animal that comes to the Fair without a CFIA tag.

ATTENTION:

Each breed must be shown separately and have at least:

Three exhibitors per breed
Twelve animals per breed exhibited at a Class A Fair, of which Carp is one. If these qualifications are not met by the individual breeds, only half of the prize money will be paid.
The maximum total eligible exhibits per breed from a breeding unit is 6 head.
All exhibits must be owned by and registered in the name of the exhibitor. All animals must be legibly tattooed.
