P.T. Sullivan Agro Inc. is the major sponsor of 4-H at Carp Fair

4-H in Ontario is dedicated to the personal development of youth while providing a positive impact on volunteers and communities in Ontario. 4-H members are encouraged to develop self-confidence, a sense of responsibility and a positive self-image in a safe and encouraging environment; helped to develop their skills in communications, leadership, problem solving and goal setting; and offered the opportunity to learn about almost everything through club projects. Specific knowledge and skills are learned through projects that cover topics such as arts and culture, technology and science, livestock and agriculture, financial management, food preparation and nutrition, recreational activities, career and self-esteem development.

The Cloverbud program is an opportunity for youth ages 6 - 8 to learn about all facets of 4-H Ontario projects. Cloverbud Program is hands-on, activity-based program that covers a wide variety of topics, including agricultural, food, crafts, life-skills, environment and science. By participation in the Cloverbud program, participants are able to get a taste for the topics covered in 4-H projects while developing an understanding of 4-H values. There were no clover bud clubs in Carleton in 2021.

General Rules and Regulations:

1. Participation in the 4-H section is open to youth enrolled in the 4-H program in Ottawa Carleton who are between the ages of 9 and 21 years as of January 1st, 2021 unless otherwise stated in the Prize list.

2. The 4-H committee reserves the right to refuse any entry, which in their opinion, is not in the best interest of the 4-H. The 4-H committee reserves the right to call in a veterinarian for a professional opinion should the need arise.

3. All participants in the 4-H section are expected to act and co-operate by showing good manners and behaviour at all times. Persons not complying with this rule will be dealt with by the committee.

4. 4-H livestock exhibitors are encouraged to display a Canadian 4-H sign whenever possible above their entries the day on which they show their animals.

5. 4-H livestock entries must comply with the health standards of the Fair and 4-H livestock health policies.

6. Non-livestock exhibits and entries to be placed in the exhibit hall building on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, between 6:00 and 9:00 pm and picked up on Sunday September 26, 2019 at 5:30 pm. ALL 4-H MEMBERS EXHIBITING ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR PICKING UP THEIR OWN ENTRIES unless prior arrangements have been made with the club leaders.

7. 4-H Tie-ups may be allowed into the barns starting at 7:00 pm Wednesday evening, if Ottawa Public Health / Provincial Health regulations allow at time of fair.

Carp Fair will charge a $25 fee for any animal that comes to the Fair without a CFIA tag.

4-H LEADERS

Ottawa-Carleton 4-H Association Fair Programs Committee: ALL 4-H leaders of the Ottawa Carleton 4-H Association are responsible for the implementation of the 4-H show and projects within the 4-H program at Carp Fair. Carp Fair directors are available to assist and ensure facilities and infrastructure and scheduling are in place. Cooperation and communication with CAS Director in charge and 4-H Leaders is key to our mutual success.

LOCAL ACHIEVEMENT DAYS

(Note: additional entries can be entered in the Carp Fair. Open Classes abiding by their rules. Members may exhibit only ONE type of project (i.e potatoes) in the county per year.)
